Could your employees be suffering from burnout? Here’s how to find out.

“What is employee burnout?” repeated Sarah looking across at me from the kitchen countertop, with a smirk on her face. She was reading a blog aloud from her laptop. “I remember researching this online in my previous job. I’m so thankful I figured things out and finally decided to leave!”

It was hard to forget that episode in her life.

Sarah was struggling to sleep and had a hard time staying awake at work. Her job as a nurse meant that she was constantly on her toes, feeling overworked, overwhelmed, and a lot of times underappreciated.

The worst was the feeling of not being able to give 100% to her patients. “I was feeling very unfulfilled. I couldn’t pay as much attention to them as I wanted, which was the reason I wanted to be a nurse in the first place. Most of the time I keep rushing between patients just to stay on track of the essentials, feeding, bedding, and medicines!”

“I was stressed, didn’t have time for the kids, and just basically couldn’t see any light at the end of the tunnel.”

Does this sound like you or one of your employees? They could be experiencing employee burnout.
